Fashion/Sustainable Coco

FASHION “Adam you eat the apple” said Eve, “no,” said Adam. “Eve, you be the first,”Adam, “Ok, if it means I get to wear Coco Channel,” Eve. Fashion: found between family and fear alphabetically, and ascribed by some with disdain
There’s never a fashion but it’s old
Geoffrey Chaucer (1342-1400)
A Fashion is nothing but an induced epidemic
George Bernard Shaw 1856-1950)
Kind-o- like: the swine?
I based my fashion taste on what doesn’t itch
Gilda Radner
We know Gilda, but we still love you!

O.k. fashion quotes are mean, how about icons, like: Coco Channel

It seems that our Coco traversed through poverty, a series of fortunate events and labor ( a lot of it). She is so infinitely regal, that no one dared to see her as anything but royal. Although, it appears, she too worked her way up through the trenches. Coco is known for saying “A woman can never be over-dressed never over-elegant”, “Success is made with what can’t be learned”, “the poetry of fashion lies in creating illusion.”
In terms of sustainability, Coco’s designs pass the Iroquois seventh generation test.

The Acumen Fund : how it uses best practices to deliver social entreprenuership

The Acumen fund was founded by Jacqueline Novogratz whose former life as an international banker provided the tools required for developing the fund. Jacqueline’s drive for social entrepreneurship and “aspiring to change the planet”, prompted her leaving international banking and joining “a nonprofit women’s finance group that dispatched her to Africa.”www.acumenfund.org  While working in Africa she was invited by the Rwanda’s ministry of family and social Affairs to “investigate the possibility of starting a credit program for women.”www.acumenfund.org While visiting Rwanda a fortuitous "wow" moment happened to her. Jaqueline noticed a blue sweater that looked familiar, so similar, to the one she had donated to goodwill as a child (1970) The blue sweater the boy was wearing in 1987, across the globe, still had her name on it. “For Jaqueline Novogratz, this encounter symbolized the idea that humanity’s collective future rests upon our embracing a vision of a single world in which were all connected. Acumen Fund is a non-profit global venture fund that uses entrepreneurial approaches to solve the problems of global poverty. We seek to prove that small amounts of philanthropic capital, combined with large doses of business acumen, can build thriving enterprises that serve vast numbers of the poor. Our investments focus on delivering affordable, critical goods and services – like health, water, housing and energy – through innovative, market-oriented approaches.www.acumenfund.org

What is Sustainability? Primary essence of an exploding practice

We hear about sustainability everywhere, textiles, non-profits, business systems, agriculture and water. What does sustainability mean, and how does it act with such diversity. Sustainable means: The ability to sustain systems that will enhance rather then degrade our living and future generations . Currently the planet is operating on an unsustainable level, we are using more resources then we have." Historically, humanity has responded to a demand for more resources by trying to increase supply. Sustainability, instead, applies demand management of all goods and services by promoting reduced consumption, using renewable resources where possible, and encouraging practices that minimise resource intensity while maximising resource productivity. Careful resource management is applied at many scales, but especially at the levels of economic sectors like agriculture, manufacturing and industry as well as to individual goods and services and the consumption patterns of households and individuals".[51][52]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sustainable#cite_note-51
